Directions for making the Monster Trick of Treat bag
The first thing you need to do is fit the bag in the fabric. I put the bag into the monster fur and folded the fabric over until it was folded where I needed it. Then I cut the excess away.
It should look like this when you are done with that step. You need enough of the monster fabric around the bag that you can make a ‘pouch’ for it to fit in, with plenty of room to hot glue around it.
Start by using the hot glue gun to attach the sides together. You can run a strip of glue along the bottom of the bag if you want, I did on some of mine.
Now your canvas bag should be in it’s own little pouch and the top will be open.
Fold over the top edge and hot glue the fur to the inside of the bag. You will need to trim around the handles, the best thing about this fur is that you don’t have to be precise there, just trim it.
Now your base is done, now it’s time to embellish the front! The googly eyes are sticky back and I take advantage of that, but I added hot glue as well so that I can be sure those things aren’t going anywhere!
You can be done there if you want, and at first that’s what I had planned, but then I saw the black feather trim and I knew my boy monsters needed thick eyebrows…
…and maybe a mustache for some of them! I just trimmed that and hot glued it on. Easy peasy. Just watch your fingers, that glue is a wee bit scalding. 😉
The bag itself is taking all the weight, so you shouldn’t have to worry about the bags getting too heavy for the fur to stay on, but I still recommend using a high temp glue gun if you have it just to give it that extra strength.
Oh they’re just too cute!
These little guys would be great for a monster birthday party too! What fun favor bags they would make. They come together so fast and just really couldn’t be any cuter!
So?!? What do you think? I am in love with them!
