These mantel posts are my absolute favorite! I love coming up with new ways to make my space pretty. This Thanksgiving mantel makes my heart happy. Yes that’s a Christmas tree with my Thanksgiving decor, but it’s not decked out for Christmas so no hating! Thanksgiving has trees people! I might just be talking to my sister who says my mantel is confused. I don’t recall asking her for an opinion on it’s mental state. 😉
My favorite items might be these adorable pilgrim and indian figures from Hobby Lobby. It was quite the ordeal to get my hands on them! I saw them the first day they came out in stores…you know back in July or something when stuff comes out! I knew I wanted them but I was purchasing things for another holiday or project and just thought I would get them as it got closer. BIG mistake. They were gone by the next week. Insert sad crying face.
I literally went every week for WEEKS before Halloween asking if they had more in, if they were getting more in, and they never knew. They never had any and then they pulled out Christmas stuff and I knew that my dreams of owning those cuties was gone for this year. Then the week before Halloween I was at a friend’s house playing Bunco and I lost. The host pulled out the prizes and my heart broke in a million pieces, she was giving these away. Yes I’m dramatic, but I SO wanted them!
My other friend won them, but I didn’t even realize who had won them at the time. I did tell everyone that I had been looking for those and that I wanted them badly so that if anyone saw them there again to pick them up or call me. Like two weeks later my friend who had won them texted me and said she didn’t decorate for Thanksgiving since they were always in Mexico until the day before. She asked if I still wanted them for my Thanksgiving mantel.
She just GAVE them to me! The heavens opened, angels sang and now my pretties stand there making me happy and feel loved. So I am thankful for Susan and her luxurious lifestyle that has her in Mexico (poor darling) and not at home decorating for Thanksgiving. She’s the best! xoxo Susan, xo! Thanks again!
My other favorite is the GIANT give thanks board that I made. I have a tutorial for it over at Make It and Love It, please go check it out! I changed the wreath from those pics to this winter one that I picked up at Target. It’s my favorite wreath, so I wanted it in my house this year instead of outside so that I could enjoy it more.
Of course I still have plenty of white pumpkins around.
For balance with the tree, I knew I needed something tall on the other side…and green if possible. These hydrangeas are from Michaels, they were 80% off so I got them for like a dollar, and they’re pretty! Stuck those in a giant mason jar with some white beads. Easy and cute!
I love having little reminders of all I have to be thankful up all month. I gave broad answers to reflect on, but there are so many things within each thing…I truly am so blessed!
The warmth of the tree lights makes my heart happy while sitting on the couch at night with my hubby drinking a hot beverage. So warm and magical!
Do you decorate a Thanksgiving mantel or jump right into Christmas or another winter holiday. I have to admit it’s hard not to!
