How to throw a Superhero Party your Kids will Love

He looked up at me with those enormous eyes that I can literally check my makeup in. “Mommy, are superheroes real?”

I pulled him into my arms and told him of course they were, as I ran my fingers through his still slightly damp hair from his bath.

Immediately I knew why he had asked. He has two older brothers that love to burst his tiny little bubble of imagination. I’m sure they had just finished an argument about how Superman can’t really fly, or Spiderman can’t really climb walls, or Ant Man can’t really turn himself tiny and steal a soda from the Hulk.

Brother’s can really be a pain in the you know where.

As I pondered how to proceed with the conversation, telling him that even though the superheroes he sees in movies might not be real-that there are still real superheroes in the world, instead my mind kept wandering to superhero party ideas. 

Superhero Party Ideas

He is only 6 after all. I am a parent who is all about keeping the magic alive as long as possible. Disneyland, Santa and yes, even superheroes are all magical parts of my children’s childhood that I want them to hold on to, with all the might their chubby little baby hands can. 

This superhero playdate was the result of that conversation. All of the supplies are from Oriental Trading, and more about this superhero party are on their site. We invited a couple friends and some cousins over.

Then the kids spent the whole afternoon fighting the forces of evil.

They jumped over buildings, they raced against other superheroes to get to the bad guy and even saved some ducks in distress.

Kids being kids, doing what kids do best, with some super cute and fun party supplies? Never, ever a bad thing.

And for my Oliver…“Yes baby, superheroes are real.”
