I wasn’t going to do it. I tried to resist. I thought I could hold out on decorating for any other holidays until Valentines Day. I did, I really did. Then I found these tiny gold pom poms while I was looking at my craft supplies today. An hour later my mantel was decked out with New Years Eve decorations and my kids and husband were laughing at me for thinking that I could actually leave this space alone.
I threaded those little gold poms poms on some sturdy thread to make a little garland and that was my jumping off piece for the rest of the mantel. I looked around my craft room for more gold things and easily grabbed a few more things. Then I looked at my little disco ball ornaments that I just couldn’t put away after Christmas. These were definitely making there way back into the decor. You all know it was happening, don’t act surprised.
The wreath I actually picked up at Target last night because it was on clearance and it was gold and I knew I would use it at some point, I just didn’t realize it would be today. I painted some little wood circles gold and wrote out 2016 on them with a white paint marker. Then I glued those to a straw and attached it to a balloon weight I had. Festive and free to me, woohoo!
The gold frame I took right off the wall in my craft room for some balance on this side of the mantel. The printable I found on Pinterest and can be downloaded over at eighteen25.
I love finding any excuse to pull out the Ikea greenhouse, so putting some of those disco balls and a chalkboard with a hand drawn clock tower on a chalkboard.
Did you decorate for New Years?
