It’s the day you’ve all been waiting for! Oh, was it just me that looked at this room every day and couldn’t wait for it to look like it does now? Well then, it’s the day I’ve been waiting for! My living room reveal is here! Everything is in place, the dust has been cleared, and the cute is ready to show!
I have a LOT of pics to share, so I will try to limit my gushing and freaking out to a minimum. I shared the befores with you yesterday because I knew today would already be an overshare of goodness.
Look at that planked wall! I know, I know! A lot of people were downright furious with me for wanting to paint it white after seeing it au natural, but this is exactly what I wanted. Exactly. Sigh. I am so happy with it.
The board and batten was imperative in this sea of white. It gives the walls texture and interest, and let’s face it…it just looks darn good.
My favorite part of the room is actually hidden behind the couch here a bit. I LOVE the board and batten around my giant box window. It looks so, so, so GOOD! Plus you can see my super cute window shutters that I just can’t stop gushing about. Can’t stop, won’t stop.
This is a big wall that houses my TV and piano. It is a little barren, and I’m playing around with some ideas to address that, but for now I’m super happy with the possibilities.
Walking in from kitchen you get the whole effect.
Now that it’s summer and BEAUTIFUL outside, I can open my pretty plantation shutters and the window and let a little breeze in…it almost feels coastal, even though we are 3 hours from the coast. Just lovely.
I kept everything white, and while some people might find that cold…I find it the most welcoming room in the house. Especially with the warm wood floors and the fun gallery wall. I wanted to be able to change things out when the mood struck without putting new holes in my walls each time, so I bought super neutral and classic frames that won’t go out of season.
My gray couches I got last year are happy in this space…as much as I wanted a white leather couch, I’m glad my husband put the kibosh on that one. It really would have been too much. And of course I have a steady rotation of throw pillows depending on my mood to add pops of color and fun.
Next to the door, I have my favorite new art piece…a watercolor family portrait of us. With the LOVELY interior shutters on this wall and this ADORABLE art, it needed nothing else. It’s my favorite wall of all the walls. Shhh! Don’t tell the others.
My couches before were getting too much sun from this big window, so we had to keep our curtains closed most days since we get so much sun on that side of the house. When I saw that these little plantation shutters opened independently, I knew that they would be perfect for this room. They totally solve that problem. They let light in while not bleaching my couch and I can open the top and let the sun shine over them at the right time of day. Dreamy!
I love my new closet…even though it’s just being used as a construction closet for all of our projects right now. From the outside though, with the pretty new door and the cute little wreath you would never know that it’s all paint cans, hammers and ladders on the other side!
Now let’s take one more walk around the room…the gallery wall.
The sitting area.
My fantastic fireplace, mantel and shiplap wall.
The piano with the summery fun on top.
Sigh! I am so in love with this space…just in case you can’t tell! It is my dream come true, and I really, REALLY have to say thank you to my sweet husband who never complained more than an eye roll or two when I insisted on what I wanted.
I also have to thank Blinds.com for the shutters. They really are the cherry on top. Just like the roman shades in my craft room, window coverings make the whole room! I get so many compliments on them, so thank you again!
What’s your favorite part?
