I had to make the twenty two hour round trip to Utah 4 times this summer for different family members getting married or in one case passing away. On one of those trips, one of my very favorite and most darling nieces got married and I was able to help throw her a bridal shower. Not just any bridal shower though, she wanted a Kate Spade inspired bridal shower. It turned out so darling!
My sister in law Suzanna in the lips, the bride to be Allyson, my other darling niece Jessica and I at the shower. These are the shower throwers…Allyson didn’t help throw it, but she had her ideas for sure! Ha! And don’t mind me where I am holding that sign, right before the shower started I got frosting all over the front of my shirt. It was awesome.
We decided to just go with desserts since it was in the evening and tried to keep everything we made or purchased in the same color pallette. The Kate Spade inspired look we were going for was black and white stripes, pinks and little pops of gold.
We had the bridal shower in my niece Jessica’s parents’ backyard. Isn’t it amazing? It looks like it should be featured on a garden website or something! It was the perfect setting.
We aren’t ones to play games at a shower, but we did have a little guess who game to get to know the bride and groom a little better. It was 4 questions and optional as you put your gift on the gift table.
We got some of the cute stuff from Oriental Trading to add to the atmosphere of the party. The black and white striped balloons and candy sticks for example both came from them and were so cute!
We also got these so darling mini black striped treat boxes for the guests to take some candy home.
For the dessert table we had chocolate cookies, mini cinnamon rolls, strawberries with a cream cheese dip, mini cupcakes and the most adorable sugar cookies I’ve ever seen!

We purchased the cookies from a friend of my niece, and they nailed it! The company is called M&Em’s Cookies in Utah and they have an instagram account if you want to see more of their creations and get a hold of them if you need something perfect for your party too.
The other project I created with the help of Oriental Trading is this Kate Spade inspired photo booth backdrop. The backdrop stand and backdrop I had on hand, originally for photo sessions but now I mostly just use it for parties. It’s seriously great to have on hand! You can purchase it on Amazon or something similar.

So I put up the backdrop stand and my black muslin backdrop and then we fluffed all the flowers and poms before attaching them with pins.
I got the following supplies:
- Large White Tissue Flowers
- Hot Pink Tissue Paper Pom-Poms
- Large Pink Tissue Flowers
- White Pom-Pom Decorations
- Gold Glitter Pennant Banner
I used just straight pins or safety pins to secure them to the backdrop in an arch type arrangement. The banner I just strung across and with the extra white I just put them on the ground. It turned out really pretty!
We all had lots of fun taking photos with out friends…when we could get the teenage girl cousins off of it!

Hi! I was wondering what size muslin you ordered?
Hey Noel, It’s what came with my photo kit, it’s rather large though and it pretty much folds in half over the backdrop set up. 🙂
