Make your grocery store flowers look like a million bucks by learning to wrap flowers like a pro!
My go to gift for birthdays is a bouquet of flowers and some yummy treats. I have a Trader Joe’s just a few minutes from my house and they have an excellent selection of flowers for inexpensive, all year round. Don’t just pick up flowers and hand them off though, take five minutes, wrap them and add a cute gift tag. It will take your grocery store purchase from “ahh thanks” to “WOW, THANKS!”
How to Wrap Flowers like a Boss
The first thing you will need are flowers. You can get them from Trader Joe’s like me, or other inexpensive options are your local grocery store, farmers market and even Costco.
Here are some other things you will want to have on hand:
- Clear Cellophane Treat Bags 5×11″
- Basic White Tissue Paper
- Premium Tissue Paper or Brown Kraft Paper
- Raffia or Bakers Twine
First you will want to unwrap your flowers from the store and put them all in one cellophane bag with the packet of nutrients that come with the bouquet if there is one. This will keep the stems from destroying the tissue paper and keep any moisture in.
Lay out a piece of white tissue paper like a diamond, with a corner pointing up. Lay the flowers on the tissue paper with the tops about 2-4″ below the top corner. Fold the sides over one at a time to wrap flowers folding over the top of the fold to show all of the blooms. Tuck the top under like you would tuck in a sleeping child.
Next, take your nicer tissue paper, or kraft paper and lay out nicer side down with one corner pointing up. Place your flower bundle about an inch ABOVE the corner of your white paper. Wrap flowers by folding the sides over and tuck flaps down if you need to, so you can see the white tissue paper over the top. Wrap the whole flower bundle with raffia or bakers twine and tie a bow.
Next you will want to add a gift tag. These Sunshine Gift Tags are perfect for just about any occasion, or if you just want to brighten someone’s day.
Punch a hole and attach to the ribbon.
You’re ready to gift your flowers that you wrapped like a pro! Don’t those look so much better than just the plastic they come in from the grocery store?!
