If you are looking something to spiff up your porch, try this glass patio table makeover.
I am excited to show you how I made this…well I don’t want to say ugly…but boring glass patio table into something much much cuter! I see these tables all over the place for super cheap. They are usually a lot less than other outdoor dining tables. This one didn’t have any chairs with it, so we built these $10 benches to go with it. I looked at the table on my porch for awhile just looking blah and kind of yuck trying to get an idea of what to do with it.
Glass Patio Table Makeover
While walking the aisles of Target I saw some of the delicious colors that Devine Paint has and knew it was time to do something about that table. I had thought about painting the top several times, but didn’t know how to seal it for weather properly. It suddenly occurred to me that I could paint the bottom!
Glass Patio Table Makeover
- First take off the legs, these ones just pulled off after sliding them away from the corners.
- Turn the table upside down and clean really well.
- You’ll need a mini paint roller and your choice of paint color.
- Paint the glass in even coats. Don’t walk away until the entire coat is complete, or you will get streaks.
- You will need 3-4 coats of paint, letting each dry in the sun (or garage) in between each coat.
Glass Patio Table Makeover Continued
- Turn the legs upside down
- Get your favorite spray paint color and my favorite spray paint nozzle
- Paint in slow even strokes all of the legs and base of the table. You will need 2-3 coats.
- Once dry enough, turn over and paint the top of the base.
- Turn the glass table over and tape the edges of glass and around the center umbrella ring.
- With the same color spray paint, paint the edges of the table and the ring. You will need 2-3 coats.
- Finally put it all back together and add a cute umbrella for the perfect glass patio table makeover!
Isn’t it sooo cute?!? Such a vast improvement!
And a little before and after side by side. I am in LOVE with this project!

Awesome! I just painted my outside window trim BM Dove White. They didn’t look anywhere nearly as nice as your patio door. I have a small round table just like this I have been itching to up cycle, you have solved my dilemma! I also love my Rustoleum spray gun! My newest favorite is the Rustoleum high heat matte black – it looks super modern. (I had left over)
Oh yay! I’m glad I could inspire you! I want to see pictures when you finish your table! And seriously, the Rustoleum spray gun rocks my socks! Oh, PS-don’t look too close at my door, there are some definite spots that didn’t turn out perfectly, but it looks 100% better in my opinion!
Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Is this paint line from target a special type paint, or what type? There’s no target in my area. this is the cutest project ever, and I can’t wait to try!
Hi Jessy!
No, it is not a special type of paint, it just has yummy colors! You can use any paint for this project under the glass. If you do it, I want to see it!
Thanks!

HI,
Can I use Acrylic paint to paint my glass table.
Hey! How has your table held up? I’m thinking of doing the same to mine but I’m curious if you would still do it a year later?
It looks awesome!!

It’s held up perfectly Katie!
I am still absolutely in love with it!

I’m looking at my ratty patio table and thought about donating it but I think I’ll try your same makeover. If it turns out half as nice as yours I’ll consider it a success. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi hon, I am in Canada and we don’t have Devine Paint. Is it a special kind of paint? Would regular paint work?
Hey Merrin!
Yes! Any kind of paint will work, I just loved the colors that Devine Paint had when I did this, and that they were just the right size for this kind of project. Good luck with this and I would love to see the finished table! 🙂
Thanks so much! I did finish the project (save a few touch ups) it turned out really nice. I did find that there were a few spots I couldn’t get to on the glass because of the plastic holder for the legs is right up to the glass. Other than that it’s pretty cute. Did you have the same problem with your table? Any ideas for a solution? I have a picture but it won’t let me post it here 🙂
I made it myself. Just take a fast look for woodprix website if you’d like to make it too.
