Ahhhh! I am so happy to be home from our 10 day trip to California. Before we left we were counting down the days until the trip using our Disneyland Countdowns. I only made two this year, and the kids shared them…and because it’s one of the most darling movies ever, we had to make a Finding Dory countdown!
The trip was perfection, but by about day 8 I was looking forward to a routine again…and my feet were begging me to stop taking them to amusement parks! We left on Friday, stayed the night in Redding and then drove all day Saturday to Anaheim. On Sunday we spent the day at the beach and then the night at Downtown Disney. Then came the theme parks! We started out at Disneyland and California Adventure Monday through Wednesday, then went to Universal Studios on Thursday. We then drove to Carlsbad and took a day off to play at the beach again. Saturday we went to Sea World, one more break on Sunday before going to Legoland on Monday, driving to Valencia that night and then driving the 12 hours back to Bend on Tuesday! Who’s tired just reading that? Me too. It was super fun, but now I’m back and ready for fall and all that comes with it!
Finding Dory Disneyland Countdown
This countdown was fun to make, and as you can see from my other countdowns you can really make any characters that your kids are into! First up we have Hank the septopus, the octopus with only 7 legs. Red chains, 7 wiggly legs and some eyes…easy peasy.
We can’t have Finding Dory, without Nemo! This one I just used orange paper with a couple white links for his strips and made his fins (one smaller than the other), his eyes and black stripe. I looked at the POP toys online to kind of get an idea of how they looked, and to keep the look consistent.
Crush is definitely my kids favorite co-star in these movies, and my husbands favorite to quote, so he got a chain. He was fun to make just using green chains, a paper punch to punch out all the brown dots, and then just his eyes and fins.
Then finally the cute little Dory herself! Blue chains, yellow fins, black stripe for her head and some eyes! Super fast to come together and my kids were so excited to see their favorite fish hanging on the wall!
We did these about a month before we left, and took turns taking a link off at a time. Leaving the heads for last.
What did you guys think of Finding Dory? I thought it was just as cute as the original and had just as many funny lines. We were standing in line for the Nemo submarines at Disneyland and I so badly wanted to hear Sigourney Weaver come on over the loudspeaker. Haha!
