I have been going a little Valentine decor crazy! I will have to give you a house tour in a bit…but every time I think I should start photographing everything I realize I need to do “one more thing” that turns into ten. I LOVE Valentine’s day! Chocolates, hearts, love notes, valentines flowers, fancy dinners out…what’s not to love? Even if you are not in a romantic relationship, there is always some love to celebrate right? Over the next couple weeks I will be sharing lots of fun decorations and other things we are doing for the holiday.
DIY Valentine Canvas
This project is super fun, super cute, super easy and makes such a fun statement on my mantle (which I will show you soon).
Supplies:
- 16×20 Canvas
- 12×18 Black vinyl
- Red vinyl
- Exact o knife, or large straight cutter
- Stapler
- Digital Cutter
Step 1: Measure black vinyl length wise into two inch sections.
Step 2: Cut strips using exact o knife or straight cutter if you have one that will cut 18 inches. Step 3: Place vinyl every two inches on the canvas, making sure you can wrap the vinyl around the edges. I used the strips of the back of the vinyl to measure the distance.
Step 4: Use a stapler to secure the vinyl to the back of the canvas. The vinyl sticks pretty well but you don’t want it to fall half way through the month.
Then you will have this awesome black and white striped canvas. Love!
Step 5: For the heart I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut out a heart as wide as I could get it out of red vinyl.
Then I just slapped that baby on there! The vinyl sticks to vinyl very well, so you won’t have to worry about it coming off.
Eeek! I LOVE it! This Valentine canvas turned out so cute! 🙂 Where would you put this?
