You guys! I am SO excited about this! I know that probably makes me a giant nerd, but I am telling you this is one of those things that was on my mind WAY more than it should have been. This crazy cluttered drawer was the bane of my existence! First, I could never find anything and second if anyone was ever in my kitchen and needed something that was in here…I was mortified! I am an organized person who despises clutter, and this drawer was the epitome of clutter. I needed a DIY utensil organizer bad!
I know there are about 500 other things on my to do list that were more pressing than this, but last Saturday I had had enough! I grabbed a piece of wrinkled construction paper off the table where my kids were working on their homework, and took a measuring tape and roughly drew out what I would need, and how I wanted it laid out. I went to Home Depot and purchased a couple of 1×3 6 ft Hemlock boards and told my hubby that this was now priority numero uno. I showed him my sad little sketch and he laughed at me, but I told him I would do it if he just helped me check the measurements as I went along. I have vision, and I can build things…I am just not really great at being super precise when I have to be. I’m more of a free spirit when it comes to building.

I had a photo shoot that I had to go to that afternoon so he was in charge of the kids while I did that…and my sisters kids too since she was helping me out, I was gone for less than an hour and when I came back, this was here!
Praises! He just used my sketch, double checked the measurements (which I’m sure most were off by more than a 1/2 inch, I’m a rounder), cut the board, and used wood glue and his Ryobi nail gun to put it together. He slid it in place and then secured it using the nail gun on the sides and the back where they met. Isn’t it fantastic?
I have never been more excited about filling a drawer in my life. I quickly went to work putting everything in it’s new home, and I’m not going to lie…sometimes I just open it to admire it.
Now, I should probably focus on those other 500 things on my list, and now I can with a clear head that isn’t cluttered with that before image any longer. 🙂
