Today I am sharing this CUTE cactus teacher gift, and I have to say this one is a favorite!
I grew up in Utah, which, for those of you who didn’t know, is in the desert. Unfortunately for this snow hater I lived in Utah valley, which wasn’t all sunshine and cacti. Every chance I got though, I would make the trip to St. George which wasn’t all that far when my warmth was on the line. There I could soak up the sun, climb some beautiful trails and marvel at the gorgeous cacti that I have always been fascinated with. I am so happy that cactus are pretty trendy right now because I love all the different varieties and having them in my home, and giving them for gifts.
Cactus Teacher Gift
To make this gift you will need:
- DIY square flowerpots
- Paint markers
- Free printable cactus teacher gift tags
- Cactus Plant
- Gravel
- Optional: Craft Sticks
You can get the first two items from Oriental Trading and the gift tags from me (scroll down to get them)! The plants and gravel can usually be found at your local home improvement or garden supply store.
First, start by creating a design on your flowerpot with your paint marker. I went with some pretty simple patterns on three sides of the pots, and then wrote the teachers names on one side.
Once you have your design, put your cactus into the pot carefully…I may or may not still have little needles in my finger. Then fill in the pot and across the top with some gravel.
My kids have a mix of genders for their teachers, so I made girly looking cacti, and more manly cacti with a seriously cute ‘stache! You can attach these using ribbon, tape or do what I did and attache them to a skewer or craft stick and insert them into the plant.
I felt pretty “punny” with my NEEDLES line, and the cactus are just too cute!
