Have I mentioned once or a hundred times how much I love finally having a mantel to decorate? Oh I have? Sorry, I’ll try not to do it again, but I can’t make any promises. I love it! My husband also loves it, because of the growing number of totes piling up in the garage of all my new fun finds for new months and seasons. He doesn’t. I’m a liar.
He is nice enough to not grumble too much about it though. I have been waiting anxiously for the right time to decorate my 4th of July mantel after purchasing that amazing cut out America board at Hobby Lobby. It’s quite large and I knew it would make just the right statement here.
Also can we talk about my wooden planked wall? Fingers crossed next time you see a mantel post my living room will be complete and this wall will be white. I have had people come over and get quite upset with me that I am not leaving it natural. Don’t get me wrong, I love it now, but leaving it natural was never an option. I have a very specific vision, that is coming together quite nicely I might add, and this wall is gonna be white. Haters gonna hate and all that.
My printable this month comes from the cute girls at eighteen25, you can get yours here. Pledge of Allegiance Printable The star candle is from Jo-Ann last year, and I added some paper straws in a jar (blue ones from Target, red ones from Jo-Ann I think…). I have a lot of paper straws and I use them mostly for decorating. My husband also loves this. Again, I lie.
The star banner and the coastal patriotic decoration are both things I made. The milk jug is from Jo-Ann last year and of course I have to have at least one kind of candy in a jar at all times. Right now it’s swedish fish, next week it might be red, white and blue m&m’s or red hots. The husband also loves this. This time I am not lying. He’s got a sweet tooth that guy…that’s why he likes me so much. Hahaha!
We are all good and patriotic over here now, and I set it up so that I can enjoy it longer than a few days. Last year I decorated around the first of July and by the 6th it felt like I should do something else. I’m one of those people who take the tree down the day after Christmas, and that’s only because my husband won’t let me take it down as soon as the presents are open. I’ve got problems. 🙂Do you decorate a 4th of July Mantel? I would LOVE to see it!
