As I’ve said before, I am totally digging this deer trend, and at Christmas time it couldn’t be easier to add it to the decor! I’ve become a bit obsessed with finding ways to sneak more cute deer into my house and this project only took me 30 minutes to complete and get it up on the wall. That’s faster than my husband could find me and say “Really? More deer, dear?” Isn’t it so cute? Love the gold and cute Rudolph’s nose. All of Santa’s reindeer are accounted for and it couldn’t be easier to get this big piece of art on your wall or mantle.
DIY Santa’s Reindeer Art
- Canvas, mine was 16×20
- Antlers Die from We R Memory Keepers (get 20% off everything from We R with code CUTEBLOG)
- Paint in 3 colors
- Red pom pom
Now you can use the antlers die with any die cut machine, but I do so suggest using the Genius Platform for the Evolution Advanced for any die cut project. Because it’s magnetic. That means your die doesn’t move around. That is glorious. No lie.
Ask for it for Christmas if you don’t have it. You will love it.
This is a basic use the negative of the die cut, use it as a stencil project. Keep the deer you cut out and use it as an adorable gift tag!
I painted 3 diagonal gold reindeer and the middle one I sprinkled with glitter to make it stand out a bit.
I used a ruler to make sure they lined up level…obviously I should have measured the distance from the bottom of one to the top of the next because the rows are not exact, but maybe I’ll add a ribbon between the 2nd and 3rd row, you never know what crazy thing I’ll do…or won’t do next. I’ll probably just leave it, because I just love the simplicity of it now.
The other 2 colors of paint were some acrylic paints I had on hand.
For Rudolph’s red nose I just attached a small red pom pom with Aleen’s tacky glue because it’s my favorite fast drying glue and I wanted this hung on the wall right away.
The paint isn’t perfect, but it turned out so dang cute and looks awesome next to my front door! Where would you put this?
