You guys! I am so excited to have this little homework station corner checked off my list! Jo-Ann contacted me to see if I wanted to do another project for #TheBigBling,(remember when I blinged out my daughter’s guitar?), this time for back to school and of course I jumped on that! I may not be looking forward to summer ending and school starting, but I love getting school supplies organized!
I was sent a mystery box of supplies and I had to use all of them in my project. Cute stickers, pink clothespins and a strand of awesome moon lights were found inside and I knew I could use them all super easily!
If you’ve read my blog for long, you know I homeschool all of my kids…yup I’m crazy! My daughter is surrounded by my loud boys when we work on stuff and sometimes she just needs some quiet to study or work on things alone. I was trying to figure out where a good place would be for her, but the only place I kept coming back to was this small corner in her room. It’s tiny, but I knew I could make it work. I started out by making a desk. It took me like 10 minutes. Easy!
I used a scrap of melamine board that I had on hand and cut it to size. Rather than putting any edge on it, I just wrapped it in a thinner black sparkly duct tape. Then I used 2 wall brackets, leveled, anchored and attached it to the wall. I picked up a cute mini bar stool at Jo-Ann for her to sit on, and it’s small enough it can easily tuck under the desk and out of the way.
Next it was time to start blinging out her space! I started by making some easy custom push pins with the stickers from the box. To make these, the only requirement is that you need to have flat heads on the top of the pins. I tried it with slightly rounded thumb tacks and they just fell right off. I just stuck them on and they were done! You might want to add some stronger glue if these will be used on a regular basis.
I also picked up a cute chevron patterned cork board and a sequined B for Bekah at Jo-Ann. Another easy bling, stuck it on and it was done! Added the cute chevron push pins and she’s got herself a bulletin board for photos, to do lists and anything else she wants to hang.
I hung up her dry erase magnet board and calendar that I got from an office supply store and a printable that I’ll be sharing with you soon. And of course I hung up her ADORABLE light up hedgehog brag board that I shared yesterday. That is where I used the lights, and the clothespins.
I’m just in love with this little guy!
The final touches were the scalloped magnetic board that I attached a magnetic locker pencil holder to…both from Jo-Ann and both adorable. Then I grabbed an owl paper organizer in their back to school area for her to keep her folders for each of her classes. To say that she was excited to have her own space for school this year…well let’s just say that she is actually looking forward to it this year, and that is saying a lot!
