One of my goals this year is to be better about my visiting teaching!
If you are not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, then you may not know what that is… Basically each woman in our church is assigned a set of visiting teachers who come and visit her, teach her, talk with her, and see if there is anything that they can do to help her in any way. It’s a wonderful program that encourages friendships and really helps us to become closer to our Savior through service and loving others. Each month there is a message, and we are encouraged to read the message and prayerfully choose something to share with the ladies we visit.
Of course I like to come prepared with a cute handout, and usually a treat of some sort…because if someone comes to my house bearing chocolate and a cute print out to hang on my fridge, I’m super happy to carve out a half hour or so for them to come over and hang out!
I am going to try and create a handout each month and I would love to share them here with you, so if one of your goals is to better about this too, then I will arm you with some cuteness to help achieve your goal! 🙂
This month was all about Jesus Christ being the Exemplar. I loved this message! The quote I chose stuck out for me, because the ladies I visit are very compassionate and service minded.
Of Latter-day Saint women, President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, said: “You wonderful sisters render compassionate service to others for reasons that supersede desires for personal benefits. In this you emulate the Savior … . His thoughts were always tuned to help others.”
The printout was designed to be printed as a 4×6 photo. Feel free to print at home or at your favorite place to print photos and share with the ladies you teach!
