Fall is in the air everyone!! Pumpkin Spice tea, chunky sweaters, and cooler weather just puts me in the best mood. I am actually excited to put away my sandals and shorts and cozy up in my boots and scarves. I am also super excited to try some of the newest fall trends I have been saving up until now.
Fashion Trends For Fall
Before I start, I just want to clarify one thing.
**Even though something is in style, it may not suit you, so don’t wear it. I can’t rock tight leather skinny jeans because I have a slight case of kankles and because I don’t have “enough junk in the trunk”, therefore I don’t even bother. Please dress for the body you have, not the body you want**
Now that we have that settled I have to start us off with one huge trend I wasn’t so sure about….
CAMOUFLAGE. I certainly didn’t see this one coming. But, then again, isn’t that the point of camouflage?
I grew up in and live in the West and at first, I thought this trend just screamed “deer tag” or “four wheeling with your cousins” but in small doses this trend is actually growing on me. I noticed camo on the horizon about 3 months ago and told my sister to watch out for that one…. it’s gonna be huge! And it is.
Touches of Camo in jackets, belts, t-shirts and pants. I do think though that a little can go a long way. Don’t do it up head to toe, OK?!
PLAID. As in Scottish, big plaid.
The bigger the better, and it is everywhere also. It has been seen in skirts, backpacks, overcoats and leggings. This trend is really fun. I have always loved plaid. My favorite way to use it is as a layer under sweaters.
EMERALD GREEN. Color of the year.
Emerald green is heating up the runways and is flattering on every skin tone. You can go as subtle as adding in the color in just your heals or as the color of your purse. Or be daring and find a fantastic dress that begs to stand out.
OVERSIZED SWEATERS. Sweaters are always a staple in the fall but now the trend has been supersized.
The more comfortable the better. Worn with leggings and boots or a worn in pair of boyfriend jeans. But use caution…don’t choose a sweater that looks 4 and a half sizes to big for you. You don’t want to drowned in it.
LAYERING. Layering for this season is always key!
Mix in texture and color. Not that you need examples in layering but just in case: Scarfs (switch up scarves to make your fav jacket look new each time) vests, colorful leggings or pants, coats, knee high boots, jewelry and beanies.
LEATHER. Yep. Leather is still trending.
But now you see in more in long fitted pencil skirts or a leather mini skirt. You also see it more as an accent like in shirt sleeves or trim. And of course you still see it in those amazing simple or colorful handbags.
Just a few other littles that are also trending, velvet, military chic, and fur. Oh and I had to add in my new favorite fall accessory.
I just ordered these beauties (but in Tortoise) and I’ve been biting my nails waiting for them to arrive. Don’t underestimate the power of a cute accessory!
