If you have been reading awhile you may remember when I told you about an experience I had with my oldest son when he was about 3 years old. If not, and you don’t want to go read about pretty much the worst day I can remember…seriously when I just went and reread it, I got really emotional, I will sum it up here. We were visiting my mom’s house and she had really tall windows with blinds that went all the way down. Long story short, I heard a small noise and went in to investigate to find my baby dangling with the cord around his neck. I saved him just in time and now I will never forget that image and I live in fear of cords of any kind on window coverings.
After that experience I went home and cut all of my blind cords…and then we moved into a shiny new town home with new blinds and blind cords. I am constantly wrapping them up high and I kind of get hysterical when my now almost three year old tries to play with them. When Blinds.com asked if I wanted to review some of their CORDLESS window coverings I didn’t hesitate for a second.
I opted for the room darkening shade to put in my daughter’s room. That is the window that seems to hold the most appeal for my three year old, and also my daughter is my lightest sleeper. The room darkening shade has really helped her sleep in a little later which is nice for her, and really nice for me. The best part…totally safe and lots cuter.
Installing them couldn’t be easier, no tools required. They just pop right in there, and to open and close them, it’s just a matter of pulling them down or pushing them up. No rods or cords hanging over them, and that makes the window look cleaner and a heck of a lot cuter than those plastic blinds that just cover function, not style. They have lots of colors to match your room, I went with the biscuit color because I love the color and I think it will look cleaner longer.
We are looking for a house right now and the first purchase I make will be new window coverings like these, that I don’t have to worry about cords…and of course make the windows cuter in the process.
For those of you ready to get cute new cordless blinds, be sure to head over to Blinds.com to check out the selection, and check out this video below to see how to measure your window for inside mount cellular shades.
