Summer is fast approaching (hallelujah!) and my kids are already making big plans. I am actually teaching a class this weekend to a bunch of mom’s in the area of what kind of fun things there are to do during the summer in my awesome town. I have been making up some fun summer bucket lists to share with the class and I thought I’d share some with you too!
This one I created using my Silhouette Portrait and their new chipboard! I love the extra stability the chipboard gives my projects. Those little buckets are all sturdy and ready to last a few summers. I thought it would be fun to change out the shapes depending on the season, and the little tag. That way this can hang on the wall all year with fun things to do.
Summer Bucket List
First thing I did was opened my designer edition software and went to work finding a basic bucket shape. This one had a handle and shovel, but I just erased those and used the bucket only.
The chipboard cut like butter, and of course it was easy to cut the paper to put over them using the same template I had created in my software. Can you believe this is actually the first project I have made with my Portrait? I am ashamed to say that I have had it for probably 3 months and haven’t gotten the chance to play with it. It’s my new favorite thing. Having lots of fun making things now that I have it figured out.
A. I Mod Podged the paper buckets onto the chipboard buckets. B. I used my Crop-adile to punch holes through multiple buckets at once, another favorite crafting tool. C. I used floral wire to make buckets for all the buckets and just folded the edges up to keep them simple. D. I stamped numbers onto each little bucket 1-31, so that there was one for every possible day of the month.
To make the display I just used some thicker wire that I had in the garage and took apart a frame I had. I took out the glass and the backing and then stapled four rows of wire to the back of it.
To attach the buckets I used mini clothespins. I can then attach fun things to the days that we are going to be doing something using the same clothespins. During the summer I’m sure it will be full of activities like park trips, picnics, hiking, fishing, ice cream shop visits, bowling, movies, pool parties and more. It doesn’t have to be something big, it can even be something like ‘play a card game’ the kids will absolutely love this come summer.
I just used some velcro to attach the badge at the bottom so that I can change it out with the seasons. That is also made with the chipboard base and chipboard letters.
I have some SWEET discounts for you if you need some of this chipboard!
If you have a Silhouette, you need some chipboard. (Oh and I LOVE the dust cover too, after mine has sat collecting dust for so long, it’s nice to not have to worry about that anymore!)
If you don’t have a Silhouette, you need a Silhouette and some chipboard.
Tell your kids and your hubby…it is almost mother’s day after all!
