I hope that this time of year, no matter what you’re celebrating, can bring you some joy, peace and magic despite all that has happened in recent days. I know that I am looking for that silver lining in all things a lot closer, looking for the good and the hope in things that seem to have none.
We have been doing our advent countdown in my little burlap stockings, every day something winterish, Christmasish or familyish. This last week we had game nights, movie nights, made cookies, brought them to neighbors and even went and saw Santa’s reindeer.
One of the things not on the list was taking this little one to the ER for stitches (and from what he remembers most fondly, popcicles)!

He fell on something up in his room, he keeps telling us it was his beanbag chair, but I don’t think his beanbag chair would gash open his head and require three stitches! It actually wasn’t too bad, the only reason we took him in, and the only reason the doctor thought he needed them is because it was right in the middle of his forehead. He was dancing around and telling the nurse and tech all the colors in the room. Such a brave little guy! If you can believe it this is my first trip to the ER with one of my three boys! I’m shocked that they all haven’t gotten stitches at one point or another with them being how they are. I’m sure it won’t be our last trip, but we can hope!
There is one week till Christmas, are you ready? We are all ready and I have to say it is hard not just doing it early! I am really excited (as always) to see my kids’ reactions on Christmas morning. So much fun!
Christmas Eve is my absolute favorite, we always open a gift, pajamas to wear that night and then another with our ornament for that year. My kids all have a “theme,” Bekah has snowmen, Topher has Santa Claus, Porter has reindeer, and Oliver has trains. So every year they get a new ornament in that theme. It is so much fun to shop for them, and when they leave the house they will have a whole collection to hang on their own tree. My husband and I exchange ornaments too, something that represents the past year for us. This year was hard since so much has happened, but I am happy with what I chose.
We always put out cookies and milk (or eggnog) for Santa, and Bekah has to put out something for the reindeer, and then we all head to bed and try to sleep. I am excited to show off this weeks feature because I LOVE this tradition of having hot cocoa with magic sleeping potion in it! It sounds so yummy too!
