Handmade Gift Tags and Cards

making a scrapbook paper gift tag

With the holiday season quickly approaching now is the time to start planning for this year’s gift giving! We all know the holidays can be crazy expensive… The gifts, the trips, the parties, etc. It all adds up very quickly! One of my cost cutting tips for the season of giving is handmade gift tags and greeting cards. In this example I made a gift tag and card for a baby gift I gave recently. I used scrapbook paper from my stash, my computer and printer, and my Silhouette SD. Keep in mind that if you don’t have a craft cutter, it can be done with scissors and a steady hand as well!

I typed the names in a Word document on my computer, printed them on the scrapbook paper, then made sure the names were correctly aligned to cut out on my craft cutter.

I use a lot of the free shapes available with the Silhouette SD software, but you can purchase other fun shapes from their online store. In this case I used the free card shape, the free gift tag shape and a boot and baby shape that I purchased to accent my designs.

I glued the extra shape cutouts (the baby and boots) onto the card and gift tag with a glue stick.

The tag has a hole in the top so it can be tied to your gift with some cute ribbon. You could easily hole punch one if you’re doing the cutting yourself….

The mama that received this gift loved the card and tag… It takes a little extra effort to make your own, but can definitely save you money in the long run! Plus, a handmade touch can make any gift that much more special!

Good luck with your holiday planning friends!!!
